Gabriel got the nickname “Gifted” about one month before his first pro fight. His coach suggested other handles such as “Sponge” because he absorbed what he learned fast. Towards the end, the nickname “Gifted” prevailed. Gabriel always wanted to fight, even as a kid. He played football in high school. Two years after graduating high school, one of his friends took him to the gym to introduce wrestling. The rest is history.

Two months into training, Gabriel had his first amateur fight. The amateur circuit lacked opportunities because nobody was willing to fight Gabriel. With the blessing of his coach, Gabriel went pro.

Gabriel is also a personal trainer and teaches kid classes at the gym. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Economics from Cal State Long Beach for himself and to fulfill his parent’s wishes. Although, he took the route to fight pro, Gabriel’s parents are very supportive of this decision.
